Description
Acyclovir ( Zovirax ) cold sore cream is effective for treating infections caused by certain types of viruses. It treats cold sores around the mouth (caused by herpes simplex), shingles (caused by herpes zoster), and chickenpox. It is also effective for outbreaks of genital herpes. In people with frequent outbreaks, it helps to reduce the number of future episodes.
Some symptoms include blistering rashes on the skin and mucous membranes, blisters (herpes).
Skin infections caused by Herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, including genital and labial herpes, herpes zoster, chickenpox.
Directions for use and dosage:
Externally. Apply 4-6 times a day (every 4 hours) in a thin layer to the affected and adjacent areas of the skin. Apply either with a cotton swab or with clean hands to avoid additional infection of the affected areas. Continue to use until a crust forms on the blisters or until completely healed. The duration of therapy is on average 5 days and should not exceed 10 days.
It is important to begin treatment for a recurrent infection during the prodromal phase or at the very beginning of the infection.
The duration of treatment is at least 5 days. If there is no healing, continue treatment for up to 10 days. If symptoms persist for more than 10 days, you should consult your doctor.
